Top Ten Tuesday: 2016 Releases I Totally Meant to Read but Didn’t

Hey guys! Today’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the folks over at The Broke and the Bookish as usually, is basically my 2016 shame masterpost. The topic of today’s post was 2016 releases that I totally meant to read, but never ended up getting around to reading. There were quite a few books which I didn’t end up reading, so here is my list of shame:

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

This was one of the books I was really intrigued by, but it’s honestly just been sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. I actually did try to read it a little while back, but I got completely sidetracked and never ended up finishing it.

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

I never got around to reading this when it first came out, mostly because I had to re-read Red Queen first but I was too lazy. It eventually got to a point where I just decided to wait for King’s Cage to be released before reading the whole series in one go.

The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rultoski

I was so excited for this book, because there was a massive cliffhanger at the end of Winner’s Crime. However, I found that when I tried to read this, I’d forgotten most of the events and details of the previous two books and it wasn’t going to be an immersive experience if I tried to read Winner’s Kiss. I planned on re-reading the entire trilogy in one go but I guess I never got around to that… soon, hopefully.

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

I’ve actually already read this at the beginning of this month, but since it came out last year and I didn’t read it until this year, I thought I’d include this in my list as well.

The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan

I actually tend to read Rick Riordan books as soon as they’re released, but I just found that last year I wasn’t really wanting to read them because the plots are starting to get a bit repetitive and predictable. I think I might read this in the near future, but honestly I’ll see how it goes.

The Midnight Watch by David Dyer

I bought this because I was curious about the plot, but I think I got about twenty pages into it before deciding I didn’t really want to read it, and never went back to it. I might go back to it at some point, but honestly it won’t be anytime in the forseeable future.

The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig

I won this book in a facebook giveaway (which I was very surprised about), so I actually got this book for free! Unfortuately, it hasn’t been a priority of mine to get around to reading this book, so it’s been sitting on my shelf, unread.

Salt to the Sea by Ruta Seeptys

I really do like Ruta Seeptys’ writing, but although I bought this, I’ve just never read this because I keep making excuses not to read it, even though I know it’ll be a good story. I’ve heard amazing things about this, so hopefully, soon.

Whisper to Me by Nick Lake

I remember seeing this all over instagram, but I never brought myself to buy this book until the end of last year, where I found it in a really cheap bookstore. Since I got my hands on this book basically at the end of the year, I haven’t had a chance to read it yet but will get to it very soon.

Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers

I only bought this because I found it for cheap, and despite being interested at the time I purchased it, I never got around to reading it and it’s slowly been lowered on my priority list. Perhaps I’ll get around to it, but it probably won’t be anytime soon.

So that’s some of the books that were released last year that I never got around to reading. I’m saddened that there are this many books, but I will try my best and endeavour to read them all.

What are some of the books that you never got around to reading in 2016? I’d love to know!
