In Concert: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

On the 29th April, my friend and I got to see the Sydney Symphony Orchestra perform the soundtrack to the first Harry Potter film. It was a great night and a really fun concert – the conductor was brilliant, the sounds were amazing and the whole experience, being in a concert hall filled with two thousand other Harry Potter fans while watching the film collectively is an experience I would definitely do again.

Prior to the concert, my friend and I went out for dinner. As we were walking to dinner, we managed to catch a beautiful sunset, and of course, I had to take a picture.

Rainbow Rowell and David Levithan Event!

rainbow rowell david levithan

So a few days ago (September 2nd) I had the pleasure of going to the Rainbow Rowell and David Levithan at Kinokuniya! It was a really exciting opportunity, and I almost didn’t go, but I’m glad I did because it was worth every second.

This is my third author experience (read about my experience going to the Maria V. Snyder event here), so going there, I knew generally what to expect and how these events worked. I managed to get seats in the front row, partly because I’m half blind and mostly because I had to get home early. I was really fortunate to have seats; there were so many people in the store who were just standing because it was such a popular event!

Me with Rainbow!

Maria V. Snyder Event!

So last night (14/4/16), I got to meet one of my favourite authors ever, Maria V. Snyder!

If you don’t know already, she is the author of the Poison Study┬áseries (aka Study Series, Chronicles of Ixia, Soulfinders Series) as well as several others such as the Healer series and the Inside Out duology.

The event was held at Kinokuniya Sydney, and I was lucky enough to be able to go! Fortunately, it coincided with my school holidays which worked out really nicely.

I met up with my friend and after getting dinner at an Japanese noodle place, we headed to the bookstore where the signing was going to be. The event started at 6:30pm, and even though we got there about 15 minutes before it was due to start, the place was packed! We eagerly sat down and Maria walked out with another Aussie author who hosted the panel session!

A poster of Night Study they had around the store!

There was an hour of talking including a Q&A session, where we were asking questions about writing, worldbuilding and even how she gets her character names! Continue reading
